We support and empower mothers.

Visitation House is a temporary home for pregnant women in crisis during pregnancy and after childbirth. Through our dedicated community of volunteers and financial supporters, our residents gain access to vital community resources and develop skills in budgeting, parenting, employment, and other essential life skills. We focus on their self-esteem and guide them to self-sufficiency.

Visitation House operates solely on generous donations from individuals, churches, organizations, grants, corporate sponsors, and our volunteer-driven, incredibly special, Special Events, which include our Spring Fat Friday Gala, quarterly Bunco parties, Baby Bottle Drives, and coming soon, our Art Auction. We do not receive any state or federal funding.

Homelessness is a devastating reality for too many local mothers and their children.

  • Single women and mothers with children are the two fastest-growing groups of people experiencing homelessness in the United States.*
  • 57% of all women experiencing homelessness report domestic violence as the immediate cause of homelessness.*

Our History

Visitation House was first envisioned by Father Tom Connery in 2007. He was inspired to create a safe home for women who were pregnant with few options and nowhere to go. Father Tom challenged St. Peter Catholic Church parishioners to become part of the solution, and so Visitation House became a nurturing home for pregnant women during their pregnancy and after childbirth.

In 2015 the Visitation House officially became an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. We continue to serve the needs of many women and their babies. Visitation House relies solely on generous donations from private donors, churches, grants and corporate sponsors.
