Our Board
Visitation House has a Governing Board of Directors that creates and reviews policies, oversees the financial aspects, and prayerfully supports the mission of Visitation House. History
Visitation House was a vision of Father Tom Connery, Pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church. He wanted to do more to help the women that choose life but did not have the resources. Abortion statistics are appalling and the community of St Peter Catholic Church is committed to Pro Life belief. Father Tom Connery presented our Pro Life parish with a challenge to be a part of the solution. His idea was to create a safe home for women who were pregnant and had few options and nowhere to go. Father Tom found a willing group of volunteers who were eager to take on the project.
The volunteers worked together and renovated a building being formerly used as a Convent that housed Sisters of Mercy and a Pre-K after their departure. The volunteers created a warm, safe, and nurturing environment for expectant mothers called Visitation House. We welcomed our first resident on December 15, 2007 and have served over 45 women in our first five years of operation. The name came from Luke 1:41 ” When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit”. Mary needed warmth, love and someone to trust. We like to think of the Visitation House as a safe place for our residents to live while they are pregnant and should they choose to parent, a place to live during their pregnancy and for up to four months after childbirth.
